Just Nagant Around – 032

January 30th, 2009 by Eric Shelton | No Comments | Filed in Podcast

Due to scheduling this week, this episode is kind of produced backwards- news, contests, listener shout-outs, etc. come first. This means you’ve got to get halfway through the show before our topic, the Nagant revolver, even comes up! Sorry about that. We finish up with an interview that I think is pretty interesting…

The CZ 75 – 031

January 23rd, 2009 by Eric Shelton | No Comments | Filed in Podcast

No links this time, guys. This episode I’m fighting off a cold and just trying not to cough the whole time I’m talking! I mention some of my recent thoughts concerning carry, and cover the the CZ 75 and it’s multitude of clones. This is also the episode where we see who downloads the most for a contest- iPod vs. Zune! A SureFire A2 is the prize, and the winner will be drawn at random from the “winning” MP3 player pool, entries posted on the Gun Rights Radio forums.

Ruger Scoop – 030

January 16th, 2009 by Eric Shelton | 2 Comments | Filed in Podcast

Well the SHOT show is upon us, and Ruger’s new LCR Revolver gets a lot of attention this episode. I didn’t know quite what to make of it, and wasn’t going to take a side one way or the other, but the more I check it out, the more I think I like it! Plenty of links for it, too. Somebody who doesn’t like it, a Gunblast.com review, and Ruger’s own website, so you can get all sides. H.R. 45 has been introduced, and this one needs YOUR action! We gotta defeat this, and it won’t happen unless we all do our part. The NUGUN link will give you a lot of the details, and Dustin’s link will help you contact your elected officials. Finally, I have to admit that David Spade may be a whole lot cooler than I wanted to give him credit for, and Richard in Florida has a segment on flashlights for us.

Hodge Podge – 029

January 9th, 2009 by Eric Shelton | 2 Comments | Filed in Podcast

Lots of wandering content in this episode, as I try to adjust to being on a night shift, and answer a whole ton of listener email. This was one of the most fun episodes I think I’ve had, because I really enjoy when the listeners write in. I talk about the Springfield XD, some stories in the news, Richard in Florida has something for us, we consider some .22’s for target practice, and I wonder aloud about action movies and their effect on shooting perceptions. Finally, I stir the pot and try to get an iTunes vs. Zune battle royale underway.

Hi-Points and Kimbers -028

January 2nd, 2009 by Mark Vanderberg | 1 Comment | Filed in Podcast

I took a lot of heat for some things I said about Hi-Point pistols back in Episode 25, and some criticisms were right on. Now while my opinion of Hi-Points stands, I did reconsider some things, sorted out why I feel the way I do, etc. But really, the most important things are… First, realize that my opinions are NOT a review and that my opinion isn’t worth any more than somebody else’s. We all know what opinions are like, and everybody’s got one, right along with two knees, etc. Second, if a Hi-Point is your pistol of choice, that’s ok. They work just fine, which is the most important feature of a defense firearm, and by all accounts they are accurate enough for self defense purposes.

Remember, I love to talk about the difference between theoretical and practical accuracy, and the latter is far more important.

Aside from that, I talk about the Mateba Auto-Revolver, some gunsmithing I had done on my carry pistol, cleaning vs. maintenance, and then I wax philosophic on what a pistol starts life as and becomes in our hands.
