.40’s, guns, and SHOT division – 084

A little of everything in this one, guys! I try to keep the news brief, and then talk about shooting Ray’s new (to him) Ruger P94DC, and Smith & Wesson 4006. I actually enjoyed them both, but won’t be abandoning my Glock 19 any time soon. Still, if you’re looking for a gun on a budget, a Ruger P-series is worth a good, long look. Then I read about the shooter/hunter divide that was evident at SHOT 2010.

Colt makes the delta elite in 10mm.Also the EAA WITNESS in several models from 10-15 rounds.www.eaacorp.com
Looks like my brother got here first
I know of 3 production 10mm. Glock, Dan Wesson, and EAA Witness. I have the EAA – poly frame, 3.5 inch barrell, accessory rail. It kicks like a mule on crack but it sure is fun. Me and Dan put 500 rounds thru it the other day, still no frame cracks.
It will also shoot .40 S&W. I shot a whole box of Remington whitebox target ammo and it worked just fine.
heh heh heh.
shot the 40, enjoyed shooting the .40
i knew you’d eventually break down and admit
40’s ain’t so bad. nice to see you’ve come around.
i tell you, I’ve always shot 40 & 45.
never had a problem. never considered either abusive.
but now you’ve got me curious about the 9mm.
I’ll be at the range Tuesday, i guess i’m gonna have to try out the G17 and see what your talking about.
I’ve always been told it’s a light round.
better for paper than perps. I’ll give it a shot sort of speak and let you know what i think.
if it feels like a 22 after the 200 rounds of 40 i’m bringing along then maybe i could use it for idpa. was considering a 35 but maybe I’ll go 34.
My brother has an XD-40, and he loves it.
Then again, he just pulled 3 years as a marine security guard, including two postings in the .
I’ve tried it, and damn, it kicks too much for me.
At the same range, I also got to try a Five seveN USG and two.357 sigs, a glock 31 and a sig sauer P226.
They don’t seem to hit my wrist as hard; I’ve read up on the “terminal ballistics” and what not, and scientifically, the 5-7 is very similar to the .40, and it’s got less kick (at least for me). And the secret service uses it… Validation.
Not saying 40 isn’t fun, but if you can’t handle a firearm correctly and safely at a particular caliber, you’re a greater danger to yourself than you are to anyone else.
