Budget Guns – 038

March 15th, 2009 by Eric Shelton | Filed under Podcast.

After deciding certain brands of cheap guns weren’t for me, and that I can’t recommend them, I realized that I failed to find any alternatives! So this episode, I scrounge a gun show, and look for used bargains. Let’s see what I find!

Good show, Eric! Here’s my personal datapoint. My first gun is a used SIG P-225. When I got it, it shot to the left of where the sights were pointed and there was certain ammo it choked on (namely Cor-bon–and it still does). Soon after the Kel-tec P-11 came out, I got one. It eats up everything I’ve ever fed it and comes back for more (especially that Cor-bon!). The bullets hit where the sights are and there’s something about that little bugger that makes it seem more accurate than it has any right to be. If I do my job, it does its job, period. The one thing I don’t like about the Kel-tec (and it would apply to Glocks as well) is that there is no external safety of any kind. So, if anything ever catches on the trigger (like a retention strap that gets inside the trigger guard when holstering), you get a ND (negligent discharge). Glocks always seemed awkward to me, so I’ve never bought one. That Glock torture test has me thinking, though…

Man, let me tell you that the banter between you and the GunDudes is great. I found them by accident, and they steered me to your show. Now I’m torn as to which one I like better. Great show! Now I’m going to go leave feedback on iTunes. Keep up the great work.

I own a Hi Point and yes it has it flaws but I believe that it is an effective carry weapon– after you break it in. I listened to this podcast and the previous one. All I’m saying is that you’re entitled to your opinion. Hell.. I was ready to get a refund after I fired it the first time. But I gave the gun a second chance. I own a C9.. Would’ve rather a .40 or .45 as a SD gun but it was all I could’ve afford and I’ve made good what what I have. Point is that I have fell in love with Hp’s and I’m looking at upgrading.
