Primary Weapons – 075

November 26th, 2009 by Eric Shelton | 6 Comments | Filed in Podcast

Despite being a huge Magpul fan, I’ve come to realize that my carbine is not my “primary”.  My pistol is the arm I’ll have on me, if we’re being realistic.  But maybe, just maybe, that’s not my primary weapon either.  Maybe the saying that the mind is the primary weapon, and all else is secondary is actually true.  This episode, I encourage you guys to be smart once again, and read “When Mass Killers Met Armed Resistance” to illustrate what a “secondary” can do.

The mind is the primary weapon – 039

March 20th, 2009 by Eric Shelton | 1 Comment | Filed in Podcast

Not a lot of gun talk this episode, but there’s a lot to be said about our primary weapon- the question is have we even turned it on?

Hi-Points and Kimbers -028

January 2nd, 2009 by Mark Vanderberg | 1 Comment | Filed in Podcast

I took a lot of heat for some things I said about Hi-Point pistols back in Episode 25, and some criticisms were right on. Now while my opinion of Hi-Points stands, I did reconsider some things, sorted out why I feel the way I do, etc. But really, the most important things are… First, realize that my opinions are NOT a review and that my opinion isn’t worth any more than somebody else’s. We all know what opinions are like, and everybody’s got one, right along with two knees, etc. Second, if a Hi-Point is your pistol of choice, that’s ok. They work just fine, which is the most important feature of a defense firearm, and by all accounts they are accurate enough for self defense purposes.

Remember, I love to talk about the difference between theoretical and practical accuracy, and the latter is far more important.

Aside from that, I talk about the Mateba Auto-Revolver, some gunsmithing I had done on my carry pistol, cleaning vs. maintenance, and then I wax philosophic on what a pistol starts life as and becomes in our hands.
