Who Do You Listen To? – 052

June 19th, 2009 by Eric Shelton | Filed under Podcast.

The goodies and gear I ordered didn’t come in this week, but while I was in the gun store I ran into my old CCW instructor. During our chat, he dismissed Massad Ayoob’s opinions because of one little thing Mas said a long time ago. It got me thinking- how do you decide who you should listen to? Who’s going to give you good info, who will give you ego, and who will just repeat anything they’ve heard with no verification?

    Eric:

Great show. Just to let you know and I am not trying to start an argument the Springfield XD and The Springfield 1911 has demenated in the NRA rattings meaning that the Springfield XD and The SpringField 1911 and its Carbine has won the NRA Golden Bulls Eye Award I belive it was 6 in the last 8 years? You can find that info on American Riflemen where it is advertised.

To me both the Glock and the XD are great guns
and I do agree on the grip of the XD they need to change it or make it better. But to make you have happy on a scale of 1-10 The Glock gets a 10 on its grip and the XD gets a 9.

    It’s all about hands….

For me, I find most anything but Glock’s in 9mm unwieldly. And I don’t even find those very comfortable.

As for who do you listen too?

Well, I’ve noticed that a lot of people change their opinions over time. I’d even wager Jeff Cooper would have very different opinions on .45 vs 9mm debate with some of the latest generation of ammunition. Perhaps he’d still lean to the .45 but I bet he’d be much more positive about 9mm today.

Eric i have a TAURUS JUDGE with a 6 1/2 barrel i like this firearm i shot a target 30in by 30 5 times with WINCHESTER no 4 shot there was not a single inch that was not peppered. Also if you use REMINGTON 225 semi wadcutters they do massive damage to a frozen milkjug. Both were at 7 yards. The Judge that has a shorter barrel a 2 yards will make a pattern like a bagel seen that on PRO ARMS.
