Although Liberty does offer several different models to choose from, the majority of Liberty’s units are full size long-gun safes that are capable of holding small to large gun collections and accessories. The largest of Liberty’s product line will hold a generous 64 guns while their economy-sized safe can still hold up 24 long guns. Liberty offers 3 different series of gun safes including National, Fatboy and Liberty’s self-titled and in each of these series there are a few different models to choose from that offer different size choices. Liberty also decided to include a choice of various color options and lock type choices depending on the model you choose. In addition to these full size gun safes, Liberty also make a couple different models of fire resistant home safes and handgun vaults.

Liberty Models
When keeping your valuable items safe it is important not only to think of burglaries but also fires. Fire will have no mercy on your guns, valuables and important documents. The fire protection rating is imperative, and liberty has got you covered. Liberty provides fire protection for up to 2.5 hours on some of their premier models and 30 min on their more budget friendly units. Liberty has also got you covered on capacity. As I’ve said before, it is so important to choose a safe you can grow into, not grow out of. There are tons of size options within each model and series category so it should be plenty easy finding the right size for your future collection.
The locking mechanism is another important feature and plays a key role (no pun intended) in how quickly and easily you access your safe. Liberty provides you with a few different lock choices to choose from: a basic mechanical lock, electronic keypad lock and a more advanced biometric fingerprint lock.

Liberty Series
Revolution
The Revolution series is the most economical, budget friendly safe from Liberty. But remember, just because this series is more affordable than the rest does not mean Liberty has skimped out on quality. This is a great choice for anyone that is just starting out or for someone that is that looking for a safe that fits their budget. This unit comes in 3 different size and price options: Revolution 12, Revolution 18 and Revolution 24. The numbers indicate how many long-guns each safe size can hold. There are number of options and accessories that are also available to add on that we will cover in the next few paragraphs.
Even thought the Revolution series Liberty’s entry-level design, it still boasts a 30-minute fire rating. This is uncommon amongst most other brands entry-level series. Generally other brands tend to skimp out on this feature and use only one layer of fireboard to save on cost, but Liberty uses 3 in the ceiling and door and 1 layer in the walls to provide 30 minutes of fire protection at 1200°F. Liberty also uses a Palusol heat-expanding seal that will expand up 7 times it’s size when expose to temperatures above 212°F.
The Revolution series comes coated in a durable gloss textured black finish and a gray fabric interior and is made from high quality 14 gauge steel. It is a bit lighter gauge steel than their other series, but is expected when going with a more economical choice. It also has 4” wide military style locking bars, external relocker for punch protection, internal hardplate to prevent lock drilling and an integrated Z-bar that aids in pry resistance. This is far more secure than several other brands entry-level units. The Revolution series comes standard with a UL listed mechanical lock but they also provide the option to upgrade to a NL electronic chrome lock.

Revere
The Revere is the next step up from the Revolution Series. It’s actually more of a leap than a step, really and is the most affordable option in Liberty’s lineup to offer 11-gauge steel. The Revere is offered in a few different capacity options: The Revere 23, which has a long gun capacity of 25 and the Revere 30, which holds about 30 long guns. These long gun capacities can vary depending on the size of your gun and scope, so do not be disappointed if you can’t quite fit the max gun capacity. The Revere series offers plenty of sweet upgrades and accessory options as well as a couple different colors to choose from.
The fire protection rating is bumped up to a 40 minute fire protection rating at 1200°F by using 3 layers of fireboard in the ceiling, 2 layers in the door and jambs and one in the walls. It also comes with a Palusol heat-expanding seal that will expand up to 7 times its size in temperatures of 212°F. When asking yourself what fire rating you should be aiming for, consider these things: How far is the nearest fire department, where will my safe be located and what type of building material will it be physically up against. The fire protection rating is just as important as the security rating.
To Liberty’s standards, the Revere has a level 15 security rating and is the first and most affordable option to include 11 gauge steel and a 2 piece roll-form body. In addition, triple cased hardened steel plates are included to protect your lock from drilling. The Revere also has an added steel gusset and pry-resisting tabs that provide enhanced rigidity to increase pry resistance as well as eight 1” in diameter locking bolts. All these added security features has earned the Revere UL’s Residential Security Container Burglary classification so that way you can be assured that you are protected beyond the standard.
The Revere series comes in with a standard Mechanical lock and key but does provide the option to step up to a low profile electronic lock. If quick access is important to you, I’d definitely bump up to the electronic keypad style access. The Revere also comes in a couple different exterior and hardware colors choices but is limited to just black, gray, or granite, which is not quite as exciting as some of their other high end safes. There are several compatible accessory options like drawers, outlets, monitoring systems, concrete and wood anchors, pistol holders and hangers, door panel accessory holders and tons more.

Colonial
Like all Liberty Safes, the Colonial is made in the USA and comes with a great warranty. This is considered on of the mid-level safes in the Liberty lineup and comes in a few different sizing options: The colonial 23, which will hold a maximum of 25 long guns. The colonial 30, which can hold 30 guns and the Colonial 50, which can hold a massive 64 long guns. Remember, those numbers are at max capacity and can vary depending on the size of your guns and scopes so don’t be upset if you can’t quite fit max capacity in your safe. As you can see, the colonial series can really hold a large variety of different sized collections. Let’s take a closer look at some of the features and specifications that are included in the Colonial series.
First lets take a look at the fire protection rating of the Colonial series. If you’re wondering how to even estimate how much fire protection you will need, ask yourself these few simple questions: How far am I away from the fire department? Is my safe hard to get too? What materials will my safe be setting on or near? These questions will help you get a grasp on what you’ll need. The Colonial comes with a fire protection rating of 60 minutes at 1200°. This is accomplished by using 3 layers of fireboard in the ceiling, doors and jambs and 2 in the walls. Also included is the Palusol expanding door seal that is activated when temperatures reach 212°F.
Liberty has provided the Colonial with a level 18 security rating which is about 3 levels higher than the Revere series. This safe is built from 11 gauge 2-piece roll formed steel and has triple case hardened steel plates that protect your lock from drilling. Also aiding in security is a cam-drive bolt locking mechanism installed with a slip clutch SURETIGHT handle and 14 – 1” in diameter bolts that lock the safe door down on all four sides. Franklin
Another popular safe series from Liberty is the Franklin. As with all liberty’s full size safes, the Franklin is proudly made in the USA. The Franklin is offered in 3 different sizing options: The Franklin 25, which can hold approximately 27 long-guns. The Franklin 35, which will hold up to 35 guns and the Franklin 50, which has a max capacity at 41 long guns. You may find that the capacity is slightly lower than advertised as it all depends on the actual size of your guns and scopes. If you find that most of your guns are more bulky than average, it’s best to step up to the next size so you have plenty of room to expand. One of the most important features of the Franklin is it’s 75 minutes at 1200°F fire protection rating. This is accomplished by integrating 4 layers of 5/8” thick fireboard in the ceiling, 3 layers in the doorjambs and door and 2 layers in the walls. Aiding in fire and smoke protection is the Pausol heat activated door seal, which expands up to 7 times its size. Lincoln
The Lincoln series is made in the USA like all full-sized gun safes from Liberty and is offered in 3 different size options: The Lincoln 25, which will hold about 24 long-guns. The Lincoln 35, which can hold 34 long-guns and the Lincoln 50, which is capable of storing up to 41 long-guns. National Classic
The National Classic safe from Liberty is a new model released earlier this year. The National series was designed to give you incredibly high security along with an Old-West style design. Fatboy Jr
The Fatboy Jr is a wide-bodied safe that specializes in large gun capacity at an affordable price. Its wide stance really sets it apart from the rest of the competition and provides excellent security, storage capacity and fire protection at an incredibly affordable price. The Fatboy Jr comes in only one size, huge, and can hold up to 48 long-guns. The actual gun capacity does vary depending on the size of your guns and scopes. Now that we’ve covered the capacity of the Fatboy Jr, let’s take a look at some of the features that are included in this model.
Liberty has the designed the Fatboy Jr to have a fire protection rating of 60 minutes at 1200°F. This is generally my minimum recommendation when looking for a fire resistant safe. The 60 minutes rating is accomplished by using three layers of fireboard on the ceiling, door and doorjambs along with two layers in the safe walls. The Fatboy Jr also includes a heat expanding seal by Palusol that will expand nearly 7 times it size when exposed high temperatures. This seal protects your items from smoke and heat damage. If you feel that the 60 minutes isn’t quite enough for your situation, the Fatboy offers a step up to 75min.
The Fatboy Jr not only boasts a large capacity and a descent fire rating, it also provide a level 18 security rating that is comparable Colonial series. The Fatboy Jr’s shell is made from 11 gauge steel and incorporates triple case hardened steel plates that will protect your lock from drilling. The door of the Fatboy Jr includes 11 bolts that cover all four sides of the door and an internal cam-drive bolt locking mechanism with a slip clutch handle. The Fatboy Jr is secure enough to obtain the UL Residential Security Container burglary classification. Liberty gives you a choice between a mechanical lock or for an additional cost, a low profile electronic lock.
Simplicity is one of the features of the Fatboy Jr so it is a little more limited on style and customization. The Fatboy comes in a textured durable black finish and comes with satin chrome hardware and a 3-point Suretight handle with an upholstered gray fabric interior.

Fatboy
The Fatboy is a wide-bodied safe from Liberty that offers the largest long-gun capacity of any other Liberty safe on the market. This safe is seriously huge. You’ll be hard pressed to find any other safe for this price that has the capacity, fire rating, and security rating as the Fatboy. The Fatboy comes in only one size, a whopping 64 long-gun capacity that sizes out at 60.5” x 42” x 32”. If you’ve got a massive gun collection and are looking for something that you can possibly never outgrow, the Fatboy is the perfect safe your situation. Let’s take a look at some of the other features that are included in the Fatboy.
Liberty has upped the Fatboy’s fire rating to a generous 75 minute fire rating at 1200°F which squashes most other brands by at least 15 minutes. This fire protection rating is accomplished by using 3 layers of 5/8” thick fireboard in the ceiling, door and doorjambs as well as two layers in the walls. As with all Liberty safes, the Fatboy includes the Palusol heat activated door seal that expands up to 7 times it’s size protecting your items against smoke and heat. This is a great option if fire protection is detrimental in your decision.
The Fatboy is protected by an 11 gauge steel body and incorporates several protection features including the DX-90 Monster Mech over-center cam mechanism that aids in security against side punching. Fatboy’s large steel door is secured by 14 – 1.25” diameter locking bolts that extend 33% longer than the original design and also incorporate anti-pry tabs for extra protection against prying. The Fatboy, along with the Fatboy Jr, was also awarded with UL Residential Security Container burglary classification.

Home Safe
Not only does Liberty make full-size gun safes, they also make small more compact home safes. These are a great option if you aren’t in to gun collecting or don’t have any use for a safe fit for long-guns. There are virtually unlimited uses for a home safe including expensive jewelry, collectables, pistols, cash, gold and silver and the list goes on. Although this compact home safe does come with some great security features, it is best to keep your safe well hidden and out of site from any burglar.
The Home Safe comes in a textured black with a gray fabric interior. This unit is made to be hidden away out of site in a closet or cabinet so there is no color or finish options. However, there are an array of accessories to add to your safe like dehumidifiers, outlet kits, pistol shelves, light kits and organizers.

Premium LX Home Safe
If you are not looking for a long-gun safe but would still like premium high security safe, than the Premium LX should fit your liking. This unit has a wide array of features that are designed to keep your valuables safe from fire and burglary. There are three different size options in Premium LX model: The Premium Home 05, which has 1 adjustable shelf and measures the most compact of the bunch at 24” x 24” x 22.5”. Next up is the Premium Home 08, which comes with 2 adjustable shelves and measures in just slightly taller at 30” x 24” x 22.5”. The largest of the bunch is the Premium Home 12 that holds 3 adjustable shelves and measures in at 42” x 24” x 22.5”.
